  FIND THE BABY BLACKBIRD

This one had fallen from the nest and was sitting on the lawn looking sorry for itself so I moved it to the cover of the shrubs where mum and dad soon found it.         It was mainly dad who fed it over the coming days, scuttling in and out of the shrubs.

A warm sunny day and it felt brave enough to venture into the wide world - well the garden, to sunbathe.

THE CRANES FROM CHINA ARRIVE AT THE OUTER HARBOUR

Left is the ship that brought the two cranes from China  docked in the outer harbour.   See how the cranes dwarf the Pier Hotel.   Right are the cranes waiting to be offloaded when these  gigantic metal monsters will dominate the  the whole area.

SEEN  ON GORLESTON BEACH RECENTLY

This fisherman is trying out a prototype method of kite fishing.   The reel at the bottom right corner houses the nylon line attached to the kite which  carries the tackle out to sea that he releases when it is the distance from the shore he requires .   The kite is then reeled in and he waits for the giant cod out there to take the bait.

I have just been sent these two terrific photos. by Bjorn Abrahamsen, her present skipper in Norway of the last sailing trawler to fly the "Short blue".  She is the Boy Leslie sold by the Hewett family before WW2 to Norway.

She survived as a cargo vessel before being restored back to her sailing trawler rig and layout.

She is seen here racing in a traditional regatta in Denmark.
